How to write a paragraph


A PARAGRAPH PLAN

Follow these steps in planning a paragraph.
  1. Choose a topic. (Main idea)
  2. Brainstorm ideas about the topic. (You will need at least three.)
  3. Write a topic sentence and supporting details (from your ideas).
  4. Write a closing sentence by retelling the topic sentence.

Follow this plan to write a paragraph about Ben Franklin.

1. Ben Franklin (Main Idea)
    (Topic Sentence)
2. Ben Franklin was a man of many talents.
    
     (Supporting Details)
3. a) inventor of bifocal eyeglasses and Franklin stove.
    b) scientist who proved that lightning is electricity.
    c) involved in writing the Declaration of Independence.


    (Closing Sentence)
4. Ben Franklin displayed his talents in many ways.
